Is impact resistance the same as scratch resistance?

A: They are not the same thing but two different performance dimensions: ① Impact resistance: It measures the film's ability to withstand sudden impacts, such as when a mobile phone drops and encounters a sharp object or is hit by a hard object. It is usually evaluated by a drop ball test (the weight of the steel ball × the height of the drop), which is related to the toughness of the glass and the depth of the compressive stress layer. ② Scratch resistance: It measures the film's ability to withstand daily friction and scratches, such as those from keys, coins, and sand. It is usually evaluated by Mohs hardness and abrasion resistance, and is related to the hardness of the glass surface and the hydrophobic layer. A film may be impact-resistant but not scratch-resistant (such as a soft film), or it may be hard but brittle (with poor impact resistance). A good tempered film needs to take both into account.
