Is AR anti-reflective film really useful?

A: It's useful, but the effect depends on the coating process. The principle of AR (Anti-Reflection) anti-reflective film is to utilize the canceling interference of light. Multiple optical films are deposited on the surface of the film layer to make the reflected light cancel each other out. The effects vary greatly depending on the process: ① Soaking in liquid: The reflectivity is about 3%, which is low in cost but limited in effect; ② Electron beam evaporation: Reflectivity is approximately 2%, medium; ③ Vacuum magnetron sputtering: The reflectivity can be reduced to below 0.5%, and the film layer is dense and uniform with a long-lasting effect. Woowhead Guanfudun adopts vacuum magnetron sputtering AR· anti-glare coating, with a reflectivity of ≤0.5% (self-tested by the brand laboratory), approximately one-eighth of that of ordinary screen glass (4%), which can significantly reduce reflection under both indoor lighting and outdoor sunlight. At the same time, SGS measured the light transmittance to be 96.5%, which is anti-reflective without losing picture quality. One more point is often overlooked: the anti-reflective structure built into the mobile phone screen only works on the screen surface. After applying a regular tempered film without AR treatment, the reflective interface is moved outside this structure, and the screen's native anti-reflective ability is weakened accordingly - this is precisely why AR coating needs to be done on the film layer.
