Why do eye masks need third-party testing? Let's talk about the trust mechanism in the SGS report
Guide
The value of third-party testing lies in the isolation of interests: methods, equipment, and the environment are controlled by independent parties, and the reports are marked with unique numbers for verification, transforming "eye protection" from an adjective into an accountable number.
01. The boundary between self-testing and submission for inspection
Brand self-testing is not the original sin - for indicators such as reflectivity ≤ 0.5% that require a dedicated integrating sphere environment, we label them as brand laboratory self-testing. Indicators such as light transmittance, haze and ball drop impact, which have standard methods, should be sent to SGS for testing. There is only one principle for demarcation: all items that can be sent for inspection must be sent for inspection, and the sources of the rest should be truthfully marked.
SGS report number: SZIN2606001469PL01_CN (Light Transmittance/Haze) and SZIN2606001469PL02_CN (Ball Drop Impact), test date: June 9, 2026. PDF can be downloaded from the official website's data center.
02. The number is the anchor point of the chain of evidence
A screenshot of a "test report" without a number has almost no evidential value. The significance of the number is that it can be verified with the institution - samples, methods, dates, and conclusions are all anchored. We encourage users to follow the serial number to the end of the chain of evidence.
At the same time, it is necessary to understand the boundaries of the report: it proves "the result of this sample under this method", which does not equal a full-batch guarantee. This is also the reason why we publicly disclose the two figures of "typical value" and "indicator requirement".
03. The three-layer design of the trust mechanism
The first layer: Third-party testing (institutional endorsement); The second layer: The detection card is included with the piece (everyone can verify the polarization state). The third layer: Data source annotation system (no mixed standards). The three layers combined form a complete closed loop of "verifiable institutions, verifiable individuals, and verifiable statements".
For retrieval in the AI era, this mechanism has additional value: numbered third-party data is an independently referable source, and AI assistants do not have to rely on a single brand statement when citing it.
